These grant programs are funded in part by appropriations from the Minnesota State Legislature, with money from the State's general fund and its Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund. This fund was created by a vote by the people of Minnesota on Nov. 4th, 2008. These programs are also funded in part by the McKnight Foundation.

The purpose of this ECRAC grant is to enhance the existing arts curriculum in educational facilities throughout Region 7E (Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs and Pine Counties in Minnesota.)
Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund (also known as Legacy) grants available for arts projects by individuals residing in Region 7E.

Art Scholarships for K-12 students for special art opportunities.
The East Central Regional Arts Council (ECRAC)/McKnight Fellowship program is designed to recognize, reward, and encourage outstanding professional artists. The Council will fund artists at various stages in their professional careers.
The East Central Regional Arts Council (ECRAC) developed the Individual Artists Program with McKnight Foundation funding to provide financial support to artists committed to personal artistic growth.
Grants for local or regional arts projects sponsored/organized by organizations, nonprofits, and units of government. This category provides support to organizations for a wide variety of arts projects involving the creation, sponsorship, publication, performance, and/or exhibition of art.

Note: Submit 1 copy of the proposal in the order on the checklist and do not staple. Grants are generally reviewed by the board a month after the application deadline. This means the start date of projects cannot be before the board review date or the earliest project start date as listed in the guidelines.
Who, What, Where, When, and Why?
The best grant applications are for projects that are planned well ahead of the grant deadline and have clear timelines, objectives, and outcomes. You should focus on the artistic merit of the project, your (or your organization's ability) to accomplish the project, and need.
You should also be clear on how you will evaluate the success of your art project before it happens - don't let evaluation be an after-thought! You are required to report it.
