Announcing the IMAGE Art Show 2013!

For visual artists in Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, and Pine Counties.

This year the IMAGE Art Show is being hosted by the Old School Art Center in Sandstone, MN.  The Art Show will be held November 15 - 19, 2013.  166 artists have entered IMAGE.

About IMAGE 2013 

This is the 27th year of IMAGE, an annual judged art show sponsored by the East Central Regional Arts Council (ECRAC.)  IMAGE is usually hosted each year by a different art group, organization or group of individuals interested in the arts.   This year the Old School Art Center in Sandstone will showcase the artwork and their facility.

IMAGE is a celebration of art in Region 7E which is comprised of Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, and Pine counties. Visual artists from any of these counties are encouraged to enter the show.

There are 8 categories and each will have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. In addition, all artwork entered will be eligible for both Best of Show and People’s Choice Awards.  These awards (except People’s Choice) are presented at the opening reception on the first day of the show.  The Judge's Award Ceremony and tour of the artwork will be Friday, November 15 at 7 pm.  This gala event is open to the public and there is no charge to attend.

About the Old School Art Center

The Old School Arts Center builds and enriches community through arts education, exhibition and performance.  It supports the efforts of local and regional artists and provides a venue for public events.  The location is 214 Eagle Drive, Sandstone, MN.

The East Central Regional Arts Council (ECRAC) is a non-profit 501c3 organization that has been designated by the Minnesota State Arts Board as the regional arts council for Region 7E in East Central Minnesota. The East Central Regional Arts Council (ECRAC) has scheduled upcoming grant information sessions for all Region 7E organizations (art groups, writing groups, dance troupes, community theater, community organizations, nonprofits, units of government, schools, etc). These sessions will include information about all ECRAC grant programs for organizations, grant writing tips, as well as recent changes to the grant application processes. Region 7E is the east central Minnesota Counties of Chisago, Kanabec, Isanti, Mille Lacs, and Pine. 

If a representative from your organization has already attended a grant information session, a refresher is always a good idea to keep you up to date with any new grant requirements or recent changes to the ECRAC granting processes.

Grant info sessions for organizations will be on Thursdays: July 12, 2018 at 10 am; August 23, 2018 at 5:30 pm; September 13 at 10 am; October 25, at 5:30 pm; and November 8, at 10 am.

These sessions will be held at the ECRAC office, 112 Main Ave S, Braham, MN. There is no fee to attend but advance registration is strongly encouraged. To register, please call the East Central Regional Arts Council office at (320) 396-2337 x 1, or email info@ecrac.org.

Interested in an artist grant?

Northern Exposures Photography Club

Exhibit up at ECRAC through the end of May!

The Northern Exposures Photography Club of Mora was founded in 2002 by four enthused "chasers of the light". The Club produces an annual exhibit each May and has the photo art critiqued by a knowledgeable photographer/artist as an educational experience for the club's members. The exhibit has been placed at various galleries in the surrounding area as its members reside in a number of different localities other than just Mora. This year’s exhibit displays 37 prints from 22 members, depicting a range in photographic art from documentary to the abstract.

The exhibit is on display at the East Central Regional Arts Council in Braham (112 Main Ave S.) and is open for viewing Monday – Friday, May 7 to 31, 2018, from 10 am to 4 pm each weekday.

IMAGE Art Show 2018!

The East Central Regional Arts Council (ECRAC) is proud to honor the award winners of the 31st annual IMAGE Art Show which opened Saturday, April 21.

 

The IMAGE Art Show is an annual event open to any artist residing in Region 7E (the MN counties of Chisago, Kanabec, Isanti, Mille Lacs, and Pine.) The Art Show and the awards honor some of the finest art in the area. The judges for the show were Brandon Kuehn and Julie Crabtree.  They both have a wide range of artistic skills and art show judging experience.  The curator of the show was Bethany Whitehead, she has curated over 30 shows.

 

 A total of 165 artists from the East Central Minnesota region entered this year’s IMAGE Art Show and over 350 people attended the opening event which was held at the ECRAC offices in Braham.

 

The 2 Judge’s Choice (Best of Show) Awards went to Carl Long of Ogilvie for “On the Edge of Time” and Jana Merten of North Branch for “Unicapricorn”. There were also ten Excellence Awards (1st Place) and ten Merit Awards (2nd Place).

2018 Artistic Merit Awards: Karrie Anderson, Milaca; Carolyn Cagle, Stacy; Nathan Hager, Isanti; Dale Hawkins, Mora; Yvonne Herrmann, Foreston; Don Kaddatz, Mora; Jim Larson, Milaca; Joy Paulzine, Dalbo; Katherine Salverda, Stacy; and James Sullivan, Cambridge.

 

Purchase Awards were also made and announced during the show opening. ECRAC purchased 5 works of art which now become part of the Council's permanent collection of artwork.  2018 Purchase Awards: Mary Ann Carlson, Rush City; Kendra Elyse Douglas, Shafer; Cindy Fuerstenberg, Pine City; Don Kaddatz, Mora; and Susan Zimmerman, Sandstone

 

According to ECRAC Executive Director Mary Minnick-Daniels "The IMAGE Art Show keeps improving every year! It is an incredibly vibrant art exhibit and a true celebration of all of the wonderful artists that entered."

 

IMAGE will be open weekdays 10 am to 4:00 pm through April 27, 2018. ECRAC is located at 112 Main Avenue South in Braham. There is no charge to attend. ECRAC's General Operating Support Program has a 5/1/18 Deadline!

As you may know, the East Central Regional Arts Council (ECRAC) has been working on revising the ACHF General Operating Support grant program for 501c3 arts organizations in Region 7E. The application is now available online

The application deadline is May 1, 2018 at 11:59 p.m.  Arts organizations can apply for $3,000 - $5,000 in funding to be used between July 1, 2018 and June 30, 2019 for allowable expenses related to the organizations arts mission.

Call for Entries!

The deadline for artists to enter the IMAGE Art Show 2018 is April 2.

The  IMAGE Art Show 2018 will be held at the East Central Regional Arts Council at its office and gallery located in downtown Braham, MN. The Call for Entry form for artists is available online now and is due by the deadline date of April 2, 2018.

 

This year’s IMAGE Art Show will be held April 21st through April 27th, with an opening reception on Saturday, April 21st from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A welcoming ceremony and the judges’ presentations are scheduled for 6:00 p.m. that same evening.  The show is open to the public.

 

This is the 31st year of IMAGE, an annual judged art show for visual artists residing in Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, and Pine Counties (Region 7E). Sponsored by the East Central Regional Arts Council (ECRAC), IMAGE is a celebration of artists living in Region 7E. Visual artists from any of these five counties are encouraged to enter the show. There is no fee to enter or attend IMAGE. Last year 177 regional artists entered the show.

 

IMAGE awards include: 2 Judge’s Choice Awards ($500 each); up to 10 Excellence Awards ($200 each); and up to 10 Merit Awards ($150 each). In addition, artwork entered will be eligible for People’s Choice ($300) and Purchase Awards. ECRAC will purchase one or more entered artwork(s) which will then become part of the Council’s permanent collection. These awards (with the exception of People’s Choice) will be presented at the opening reception during the first day of the show. The People’s Choice Award will be distributed after the show ends and all voting by attendees is complete.

Artist Funding Currently Available

The East Central Regional Arts Council (ECRAC) is pleased to announce to artists of all ages within Region 7E (the Minnesota Counties of Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, and Pine), that the next deadline to apply for funding is March 1, 2018. Funding is available for 2 programs for artists.

Essential Artist Award Program -

The ECRAC Essential Artist Award is designed to recognize, reward, and encourage outstanding professional artists. These Awards will allow artists to set aside time to work, purchase supplies and materials, undertake advanced artistic study (not related to a degree) or to pursue other artistic career goals. Three $7,000 Essential Artist Awards are available. The annual deadline is March 1.

ECRAC K-12 Scholarship Program for Students -

Scholarship funding up to $500 is available for a student's specific art or music learning projects, camp, or art programs for students currently in grades K-12. These activities should not be related to a degree and can't occur outside the state of Minnesota. The annual deadline is March 1.
