Film @ Franconia: 5 Minute Film Festival
Franconia Sculpture Park is pleased to once again present the Franconia 5 Minute Film Fest, open for submissions from artists in Minnesota and Wisconsin working in video art, film, documentary, animation, or experimental media.
Selected videos will be screened live on Saturday, September 3 during an outdoor screening as part of the Film @ Franconia series. All submissions must be under 5 minutes in length.
Awards will be announced at the event.

Juror Bios
Angela Washko is an artist who creates new forums for discussions about feminism. Washko’s practice spans interventions in mainstream media, performance art, video, and video games. She is committed to telling complex and unconventional stories about the media we consume from unusual perspectives. Since 2012, Washko has operated The Council on Gender Sensitivity and Behavioral Awareness in World of Warcraft, an ongoing intervention inside the most popular multiplayer online role-playing game. A recent recipient of the Impact Award at Indiecade, a Franklin Furnace Performance Fund Grant, and a Frank-Ratchye Fund for Art at the Frontier Grant, Washko’s practice has been highlighted in The New Yorker, Frieze Magazine, Time Magazine, The Guardian, Artforum, The Los Angeles Times, Art in America, The New York Times, and more. Her projects have been presented internationally at venues including Museum of the Moving Image, Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, the Milan Design Triennale, the Shenzhen Independent Animation Biennial and the Rotterdam International Film Festival. Washko is an Assistant Professor of Art at Carnegie Mellon University.
Ginger Shulick Porcella (Minnesota) currently serves as the Executive Director and Chief Curator of Franconia Sculpture Park. She holds an M.A. in Socio-Cultural Anthropology from Columbia University and a B.A. in Art History from DePaul University. She was previously the Executive Director and Chief Curator of MOCA Tucson, Executive Director of the San Diego Art Institute, and the Executive Director of Art Connects New York. She has curated critically acclaimed exhibitions such as: Cyclic with Cassils and Ron Athey; Blessed Be: Mysticism, Spirituality and the Occult in Contemporary Art; Dazzled: OMD, Memphis Design and Beyond; and Amir Fallah: Scatter my Ashes on Foreign on Lands. She is the founder/director of the 4Ground: Midwest Land Art Biennial, founder and head curator of LUMEN video and performance festival in New York, as well as the 5 Minute Film Festivals in San Diego, Tucson and now Franconia. Her exhibitions have been positively reviewed in Frieze, The New York Times, and Hyperallergic, and in 2015 she was named the “Voice of the Year” by The Voice of San Diego.
