Hallber Center for the Arts Introduces - "The Vocabulary of Objects" by Gary Carlson, in the Underground Gallery

Award-winning, found object sculptor Gary Carlson opens in the Underground Gallery also on May 22 with "The Vocabulary Of Objects". Carlson has earned multiple awards, honors and accolades from many juried contests including the Minnesota State Fine Arts Exhibition (Star Tribune: Top Ten Artworks to see at the State Fair) Arts Northern International-Hopkins Art Center, In.Art Show and Competition-Hallberg Center for the Arts, Northern Lights - White Bear Center for the Arts.  "My assemblage/mixed media sculptures begin by combing through my collection of discarded and broken debris of defunct technologies and faded cultural artifacts.  I pick objects with a similar essence, color, line and shape.  It's an intuitive and reactive process to unify these parts and make them play well together aesthetically."  indicates Carlson. The Opening Reception for both exhibits runs from 5:00pm - 7:30pm on Thursday May 22nd and includes complimentary snacks and refreshments including craft beer courtesy of The Uncommon Loon Brewery and coffee from White Pines Coffee.
