Maggie Jaszczak

I am a Minnesota potter and mixed media artist.  I make ceramic pots and vessels and work as well with wood, textiles, and leather to make everyday objects such as shirts and chairs, and leather vessels and baskets.  In all my work, both ceramic and mixed media, I make quiet, simple objects infused with a love of labor and a respect for the honesty of material and process – finger marks on wet slip, cracking wood, or worn leather.  I am particularly drawn to functional objects for their cultural and historical ubiquity and for their ability to call forth the humbler aspects of being human.
