Spring 2019!

Are you an artist?  Do you work in a creative field?  Do you also want to learn business skills related to your creativity??!!!!!!!

We have just the series of workshops for you!!!  Springboard's Work of Art: Business Skills for Artists

Springboard for the Arts has a professional development curriculum designed to teach business skills to artists and creative people in all disciplines. The East Central MN Regional Arts Council (ECRAC) will be sponsoring the curriculum at the office in Braham, MN.  Attendees are encouraged from Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs and Pine County

The workshops will be held at ECRAC's office, with 12 workshops scheduled on 6 different weekends in 2019. Each session lasts 2.5 hours. Saturday sessions will start at 9:30 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. and will end by 3:30 p.m. Meals will be provided at no charge on Saturday at noon.

You can participate in all 6 weekends for $120 or choose each session individually for $20 each.  If needed, full scholarships and mileage reimbursement are available upon request at the time of registration. Also, notify us if you have any dietary considerations when registering.

Advance registration is required.  All workshops will take place at the ECRAC office 112 Main Avenue South, in Braham, MN.

Identify communication tools to fit your needs, craft engaging messaging, and build a basic promotions strategy with actionable steps to get the word out.

March 16, 2019 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. Social Media Basics

Using Facebook and Twitter examples, learn core functionality, best practices and exercises to help you build an online strategy for your artistic business.

April 13, 2019 9:30 – 12:00 p.m. Pricing
Discover an analytical approach to defining key elements that will help you calculate the costs and prices of your art for a variety of markets.

April 13, 2019 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. Recordkeeping
Learn how to track revenues and expenses, make informed projections, and gain a clearer understanding of your artistic business finances.

May 18, 2019 9:30 – 12:00 p.m. Legal Considerations
Obtain general information about your intellectual property, contract basics and structuring your artistic business.

May 18, 2019 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. Funding
Learn how to think creatively about diversifying your funding streams by exploring traditional and new models for generating value, resources, and revenue.

June 15, 2019 9:30 – 12:00 p.m. Grantwriting
This workshop is designed to help individual artists and small arts groups to understand and prepare strong grant applications.

June 15, 2019 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. Business Plan Essentials
Learn how to prepare a simple business plan, in arts-friendly language, to help you organize all the various aspects of your artistic practice and make informed business decisions.
