Senior Artistic Outreach

Learn to draw a chalk pastel sunset, start with the basics and add in colorful clouds and twinkling stars. Create a desert scene with a silhouetted cactus and mountains! Chalk pastel is a messy but fun medium that blends colors in a lovely way. This class is great for all skill levels, but this particular version of the class is geared to seniors only. This FREE class was made possible by a grant through the East Regional Arts Council. This Grant enables us to bring free art classes to artists who are seniors, encouraging creativity, vitality, and community.

Tell Me a Story - by SewCarolyn!

In the Underground Gallery, repurposed coats brought back to life with favorite stories and themes recreated in thread, applique, embroidery, vintage textiles and embellishments by Carolyn Cagle Let me tell you a story! I have been playing with repurposed and vintage wool jackets for years, and as an embroidery professional and textile artist. Each one of the coats eventually tell me what their story is. It's my creative outlet as a textile artist that I get to wear for everyone to enjoy!

Gallery Chat with award winning Pine County author Dean Hovey

We are so excited to be part of the book tour that Dean has been on. We (The Art of Words Group) have invited him to hold this time for our community to hear him describe his books and process more in depth. Join us to listen, ask him some questions and then have time for some casual chats about his newest book. In a separate event, those of us who are developing writers will have the opportunity to participate in the workshop Dean and Tami are developing. More to come on that in a separate event.
